 s in his own right – the shepherd boy who ended up shepherding God’s p
 eople Israel\, under whose guidance Israel’s borders reached their great
 est extent and who brought the Nation peace and prosperity.  He is also f
 amous because of God’s interest in his welfare and his family – making
  him a promise (covenant) on which we base our hope in Jesus\, the Messiah
 .\nBut for all his fame and military prowess\, David was not the one to bu
 ild God’s House – it was for his Son\, Solomon to do that.\nAs we jour
 ney through this series\, we will see David wait patiently for all the Lor
 d has promised him\, to come to pass.  We will see him fall spectacularly
  in his adultery with Bathsheba and we will see him struggle to keep his u
 ndisciplined family together as one of his sons tries to seize the kingdom
  from him.\nHe was a poet and musician\, he knew the Lord and displayed gr
 eat faith in God and his purposes\, even when\, to the human eye\, all see
 med lost.\nDescribed as ‘Ruddy and handsome’ David has often been depi
 cted in works of art\, such as Michelangelo’s famous statue in Florence.
 \nAs we follow the life of this extraordinary man we will learn about the 
 heart of our God and the hearts of those he calls to serve him. My hope is
  that this series will deepen our understanding of God’s call on each on
 e of us and grow in us a sense of anticipation as God brings us a new lead
 er\, and we begin a new chapter in our life and ministry together.\n\n\nJu
