Alpha Course

Alpha provides an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed setting with up to ten thought-provoking weekly sessions that cover various aspects of the Christian faith. Over 13 million people worldwide have now attended an Alpha course.

A typical Alpha evening involves sharing a meal with your Alpha group and watching a video on a range of topics such as Who Is Jesus? and How Does God Guide Us? This is followed by a chance to ask your own questions and to listen to the thoughts and questions of others.

The next Alpha course is running on Monday nights from February 20th through to April 2nd. Contact the office if you're interested in being part of the life-changing Alpha course.

Holding to the Core

"In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity." There are doctrines that form the core of the Christian faith. In this ten-week seminar series, we will provide an overview of these fundamentals. Every believer needs to be 'holding to the core' in order to avoid our faith being shipwrecked.

We will consider the doctrine of the Trinity, the state of mankind and salvation by grace through faith, the Person of Christ, the work of Christ (atonement, Second Coming), the resurrection and judgment of all, the reality of only two eternal destinies, the Church and the call on every follower of Jesus to grow and share.

Join us on ten Wednesday nights from April 18th through to June 20th.

From the Apostles to Today

If we are to properly understand the Christian faith today, we need to appreciate from where we have all come. Christian thought, from the time of the Apostles, then on down through the centuries, shapes our faith and practice far more than we appreciate.

Over two ten-week seminars, we will survey the early centuries of the Church, follow the development of teachings about the Trinity and the Person of Christ, Augustine's impact, the split of the Church between East and West, characteristics of the Middle Ages, the growing call for reform, the Reformation, pietism and revivalism, 20th century evangelicalism and the rise of Pentecostalism and charismatic expression.

The seminar material is sourced from three main texts: Roger Olson's 'The History of Christian Theology' and his 'The Mosaic of Christian Belief', and 'Christian Thought: a historical introduction' by Chad Meister and J B Stump.

The seminars are held on Thursday nights.

'Free-in-Christ' Course

Notwithstanding the completeness of Christ's work on the Cross and the giving of the Holy Spirit, we can sadly sometimes as followers of Jesus, not live our lives in the victory of Christ and the power of the Spirit. The reasons can be varied, but there can be emotional and spiritual baggage in our lives that has not been properly dealt with.

Over ten monthly sessions, we will look at some of the common baggage in our daily lives. Such as some types of depression, shame, guilt, dependent relationships, fear, unforgiveness, rejection, illness, controlling relationships and burn-out.

All of us are impacted, from time-to-time, by this sort of stuff.  At one level, it is part and parcel of our human condition.  BUT, we can live daily lives genuinely free-in-Christ.

The teaching material for these sessions is of the highest standard: DVD presentations by Christian specialist, Dr Grant Mullen and his wife, Kathryn.  At the end of each night, there will be an opportunity for prayer.

The Gospels

How well do you know the New Testament Gospels? You probably have a favourite story, or perhaps a miracle or parable. But what was the historical context in which Jesus' earthly ministry was conducted? What were the religious, social and political contexts?

It is vital to understand the historical context in bringing the messages of the Gospels into our world. In this twelve week course, we will look at the socio/cultural/political landscape of the 1st C in Palestine; focus on the miracles and parables of Jesus, the Kingdom of God, and work our way through Mark's Gospel.

The New Testament Letters

How well do you know the New Testament Letters? From the Letter to the Romans to Revelation, God has provided us with His very words to many of the first churches.

Being God's very words, the New Testament Letters speak into our lives today - both as individuals and churches. But how do we take these 1st century letters, written to particular people and churches and properly apply them to ourselves? Over this twelve-week seminar series, you will be equipped to undertake this critically important task.
